COURSE A - INTRODUCTORY HANDGUN

 THIS COURSE IS DESIGNED FOR THE INDIVUAL WITH LITTLE OR NO EXPERIENCE WITH HANDGUNS. HEAVY EMPHASIS ON SAFETY ISSUES ON AND OFF THE RANGE. DISCUSSION OF PRACTICAL LEGAL ISSUES AFFECTING THE GUN OWNER. NOMENCLATURE, OPERATION AND BASIC MAINTENANCE OF REVOLVERS AND SEMI-AUTOMATIC HANDGUNS. PROPER LOCKING AND STORAGE; PROPER AMMUNITION STORAGE; PROPER FIREARM HANDLING; LIVE FIRE WITH VARIOUS MODELS OF REVOLVERS AND SEMI-AUTOS.

COURSE B - BASIC MARKSMANSHIP SKILLS

THIS COURSE IS DESIGNED TO MASTER SHOOTING SKILLS WITH THE HANDGUN. ALL TOPICS IN COURSE - A  ARE COVERED PLUS DETAILED TRAINING IN THE FUNDAMENTALS OF HANDGUN SHOOTING, SHOOT - NO - SHOOT SCENARIOS DISCUSSED. SKILLS TO INCLUDE STANCE, GRIP, SIGHT ALIGNMENT, SIGHT PICTURE, TRIGGER CONTROL, BREATHING, AND FOLLOW THROUGH. RELOADING AND MALFUNCTIONS. VARIOUS TARGETS WILL BE USED AT VARIED DISTANCES.

Students will receive training from Red Cross certified Health and Safety Instructors.

Training will consist of, Responding to Emergencies and recognizing the proper care to be given in those emergencies. Students will be trained in the proper administration of Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation or ( CPR ) and  the automated external defibrillator, ( AED ) for adults, children, and infants, using 'State of the Art' manikins and generic AED models ( to illustrate the basic application ). First aid training will consist of proper care before and during the administering of splints, bandages, and  the moving of  injured person.
Students will receive Red Cross issued Certification cards upon successful completion of the program.
